Fife is where our commercial and residential work meet. The flats along the I-5 corridor and out toward the Port of Tacoma are lined with working properties: truck yards, warehouses, hotels, and the fast-grown poplar and cottonwood rows that were planted as quick screening decades ago and are now dropping limbs on parked trailers. Taking those rows down, or cutting them back hard on a maintenance cycle, is bread and butter for our commercial crew.
The residential core around Dacca Park and the streets off 20th Street E is small but keeps us busy with ordinary neighborhood work: fruit trees needing winter pruning, a fir that's outgrown a small lot, stumps in the way of a new driveway. Small yards mean tight access, which our climbers prefer anyway.
