A mature shade tree is the one part of your landscaping you genuinely cannot replace. Lose a 60-year-old maple and no amount of money puts it back inside your lifetime. Tree health care is how you avoid finding that out.
The Puget Sound climate is generous to trees and to the things that attack them. We diagnose and treat the usual local suspects: laminated root rot working through Doug fir groves, verticillium wilt in maples, anthracnose spotting up dogwoods and sycamores every wet spring, spruce aphids, bronze birch borer in stressed birches, and the sooty honeydew mess aphids make of lindens and tulip trees. Treatment ranges from soil amendments and deep-root fertilization to trunk injections and, where chemicals aren't warranted, simple cultural fixes like unburying a root flare that a landscaper mulched into a volcano.
Most health problems we see trace back to two things: soil compaction and bad past pruning. Both are fixable, and both are cheaper to fix than the removal they eventually cause.
Our seasonal monitoring program covers spring and fall checkups on your key trees with a short written note after each visit. It's modest money, and it's how our customers' big trees keep being big trees. If an inspection turns up something structural, our arborist assessment picks up from there.
