Half of University Place has a view, and the other half is trying to get one back. The slope above Chambers Bay is the classic call: a wall of firs between the living room and the Sound, a golf course and railway below, and a homeowner who wants light without scalping the hillside. View work here is selective thinning and windowing done tree by tree, sometimes negotiated across two or three neighbors' properties. We do a lot of it, and we're comfortable being the diplomats.
Away from the water, UP is tidy mid-size lots off Bridgeport Way and around Curtis High School, where the work runs to ornamental pruning, roofline clearance and the occasional full removal when a builder-planted tree from the 90s has outgrown its welcome. Day Island throws in the odd madrona question, and the answer is almost always prune lightly or leave it alone, madronas hate being fussed over.
